AT&T acquires Lumen’s mass markets fiber business for $5.75 billion

Gibson Dunn has announced its role in representing AT&T in a significant acquisition. The transaction involves AT&T’s $5.75 billion purchase of most of Lumen’s Mass Markets fiber business. This acquisition covers about 1 million fiber customers and extends to over 4 million fiber locations across 11 states in the United States.

The legal team from Gibson Dunn was led by partner Robert Little. The corporate team included partner Joe Orien and associates William Altabef, Joshua Paul Barringer, Marie Baldwin, and Riley Gesling. Tax advice was provided by partner Pamela Lawrence Endreny with associates Duncan Hamilton and Eva Gao. Partner Krista Hanvey along with associate Ashley Romanias handled benefits-related matters. Intellectual property issues were managed by partner Daniel Angel and associates Jacqueline Malzone and Yaz Kaveh. Data privacy concerns were addressed by partner Cassandra Gaedt-Sheckter with associates Jennifer Grecco and Ruby Lang, while environmental aspects were overseen by partner Michael Murphy.

This acquisition is a notable move for AT&T as it expands its fiber business footprint significantly within the United States.
