Milbank LLP partner Fiona Schaeffer is set to moderate a panel on merger control in the Americas at the 2025 American Bar Association (ABA) Antitrust in the Americas conference. The event will take place on Tuesday, May 20, in Cartagena, Colombia.

The panel is titled “Challenges in Cross-Border Merger Enforcement” and aims to address the evolving landscape of merger control within the region. It will also cover the increasing importance of cross-border cooperation among competition authorities and examine how recent high-profile merger cases have influenced enforcement trends.

Joining Ms. Schaeffer on the panel are Carlos Esguerra, Founding Partner at Bermúdez & Esguerra Abogados; Juanita Mesa, Vice President of Legal Consumer Goods Americas at Essity; Vincent Poirier-Garneau, Partner at APOYO Consultoría; and Ricardo Riesco, Partner at Bering.

The annual ABA conference gathers senior competition enforcers and leading practitioners from Latin America to discuss significant issues related to competition and antitrust policy as well as enforcement across the Americas.
