Kelly Ann Shaw, a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP and former senior trade official under the Trump administration, shared her insights on the upcoming G-7 Summit in Canada with major media outlets including the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, NPR’s “Up First,” and Bloomberg Surveillance TV.
Shaw highlighted that the G-7 nations are focusing on creating concise leader statements on shared interests. She noted to USA Today that this approach is more pragmatic, aiming to address pressing global issues by finding common ground among some of the world’s largest economies.
Discussing recent trade developments, Shaw commented on a new deal involving auto parts, auto imports, and aerospace between the U.S. and the U.K. She told Bloomberg that “The U.K. is still very much front of the queue, ahead of any other government.”
