Seyfarth Shaw LLP is set to launch a webinar series focusing on critical developments in energy law. The first session, titled “Tariff Turbulence: Impacts on Energy Clients and their Contractual Relationships,” will take place on June 18, 2025. It aims to provide practical guidance on navigating the complexities of transactional, regulatory, and litigation landscapes within the energy sector.
The inaugural webinar will address the growing influence of tariffs and supply chain volatility on commercial disputes related to energy infrastructure, construction, and equipment procurement. According to Seyfarth’s announcement, the panel will examine how recent tariffs and trade disruptions are leading to force majeure claims and affecting long-term energy contracts’ performance.
Key discussion points will include “the expanding scope and invocation of force majeure clauses in energy contracts,” as well as “risk allocation in EPC, O&M, and supply agreements under current tariff regimes.” Additionally, the session will cover “dispute resolution trends and key takeaways from recent court decisions” along with “best practices for drafting, renegotiating, and enforcing energy contracts in an unpredictable global market.”
The speakers for this event include Suzanna Bonham, Chris Cottrell, Brenda Radmacher—all partners at Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Ben Hughes will serve as the moderator.
This session marks the beginning of a series aimed at equipping participants with insights into emerging risks and opportunities across various facets of energy law.
