Sidley has announced the addition of David Monteiro and Kristin Lee to its Banking and Financial Services practice within the M&A and Private Equity group. They join as partners in Sidley’s Dallas and New York offices, respectively, from Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP. Senior managing associate Michael Cumming will also join them.
David Monteiro brings extensive experience advising financial services companies, including banks, broker-dealers, fintechs, underwriters, and lenders on complex consumer protection issues. He represents these entities in investigations, enforcement actions, and supervisory matters before federal and state regulators. Monteiro’s work includes evaluating risks under various consumer protection laws and conducting internal investigations to improve compliance systems.
Kristin Lee specializes in advising U.S. and non-U.S. banks on regulatory matters before major federal and state agencies such as the Federal Reserve System and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Her expertise covers U.S. banking laws, regulatory developments, compliance matters, international operations of U.S. banks, chartering initiatives, control determinations, and enforcement issues.
Together with Mr. Monteiro’s consumer protection focus and Ms. Lee’s regulatory expertise, they provide integrated advice on consumer and prudential regulatory concerns for clients facing examinations by bank regulatory agencies or joint agency enforcement actions.
