White & Case partner Sonja Hoffmann has been recognized in Forbes’ 2025 “Women Lawyers: Inspiring Justice” issue. This feature highlights women lawyers instrumental in driving societal change and contributing to the legal field.

In her profile, Hoffmann discusses her professional journey at White & Case and her determination to become a partner. “Early in my career, I focused on the entrepreneurial aspects of the legal profession,” she explains. She attributes her current role as a partner, leading a 30-member team in the Global Commercial Litigation Practice, to “initiative, team building, networking and dedication.” She is also a significant figure in the Consumer & Retail Industry Group and the Sustainability & Responsible Business Group at the firm.

Hoffmann reflects on her career achievements, stating, “My career gained momentum when I accepted that not everyone would always love me or my ideas. No matter how hard you try, some people will criticize you.” She believes real progress happened when she trusted her instincts despite potential opposition. “If you stay focused with positive objectivity, things will go your way long-term,” she advises.

Addressing challenges, Hoffmann mentions, “Failures are painful, but they shape and strengthen us. I have learned that staying calm and persevering through difficult times always leads to growth.”

She ends with advice to her younger self: “Be patient, take things step by step, and enjoy the process.”
