Squire Patton Boggs has appointed Lisa Shannon as the head of its newly established Labour and Employment Practice in Ireland. The firm announced that Shannon, a senior employment lawyer, will be responsible for developing and leading this new practice area.
Dennis Agnew, managing partner in Ireland, stated: “We are delighted to welcome Lisa to the firm. Lisa’s arrival forms part of the strategic expansion of our offering in Ireland, where we’ve added real estate, tax and now employment capabilities to augment our cross-border M&A practice and increase the range of specialist advisory services we provide to our multinational client base.”
Lisa Shannon brings experience working with both domestic and international companies on workplace disputes, disciplinary matters, compliance issues, and mergers and acquisitions. She is particularly known for her expertise in providing employment advice to regulated financial services providers. Her recent work includes advising the board of a public limited company on an investigation into allegations against its CEO, overseeing a no-fault termination process for another CEO, and guiding clients through redundancies involving roles regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.
Alison Treliving, co-chair of the global Labour & Employment Practice Group at Squire Patton Boggs, commented: “Lisa is an ambitious, well-regarded lawyer with excellent client management skills and sought-after regulatory experience. With our instructions for multijurisdictional projects having doubled over the past year, Lisa will play an important role in expanding our capabilities across Europe, acting for multinational clients on their most complex and challenging mandates.”
Shannon expressed her enthusiasm about joining Squire Patton Boggs: “The firm’s comprehensive global platform, its investment in Ireland and its impressive Labour and Employment team drew me to Squire Patton Boggs. I am excited to get started and look forward to developing the firm’s employment law offering in Ireland.”
