White & Case advises bluu unit on acquisition of German specialist KKL

bluu unit GmbH, a portfolio company of Triton Smaller Mid-Cap Fund II, has reached an agreement to acquire KKL Holding GmbH. The deal will see bluu unit take over one of Germany’s well-known companies specializing in refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation technology, and data centre solutions. According to the announcement, this move supports bluu unit’s aim to provide high-quality and environmentally friendly solutions across Germany.

The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025.

KKL employs more than 300 people at its sites in Düsseldorf, Cologne, and Stuttgart (Ebersbach an der Fils), with annual revenues exceeding €80 million. The company handles projects across various industries but places significant emphasis on data centres.

bluu unit offers services that include innovative technologies and natural refrigerants through its participation in the Natural Refrigeration Alliance. Its offerings cover consulting, project planning, installation, and maintenance. In 2025 alone, four groups comprising seven independent specialist firms and over 180 employees have joined the alliance.

Triton was established in 1997 as a European mid-market sector-specialist investor. It invests in companies delivering business-critical goods and services within business services, industrial technology, and healthcare sectors.

The legal team from White & Case LLP advising on the transaction was led by partner Tomislav Vrabec (Frankfurt). Other partners involved were Dr Bodo Bender and Dr Sebastian Stütze (both Frankfurt), Erasmus Hoffman (Berlin), Thilo Wienke (Düsseldorf), local partner Alisa Preissler (Frankfurt), as well as associates Robin Jackson, Franziska Schiffmann, Eva Shaw, Marc Hering, Valentina Scheler, Leon Hoffeller, Justus Redeker (all Frankfurt), Stefan Papastefanou (Hamburg), Johannes Wiehe (Düsseldorf), Galina Wedel and Frederike Kirch (both Berlin).
