Global law firm White & Case LLP has announced the expansion of its Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice and Global Private Equity Industry Group with the appointment of Giovanni Spedicato as a partner in Milan.

“The Italian M&A market was strong in 2024, with the volume and value of transactions increasing compared with 2023 and more than 40% of nearly €64 billion in deal activity carried out by private equity firms,” stated Leonardo Graffi, White & Case Office Executive Partner in Milan. “We expect that trend to continue through 2025 and the addition of Giovanni, a versatile and talented M&A lawyer who is highly regarded in the Italian market, underlines our ‘go-to’ status for leading clients on their key cross-border M&A and private equity deals in Italy.”

Giovanni Spedicato advises private equity sponsors and industrial players on complex mergers and acquisitions, including joint ventures, private equity transactions, divestitures, strategic commercial contracts, corporate governance, and venture capital. He joins from Latham & Watkins where he served as counsel, bringing 15 years of experience to his new role.

White & Case partner and Vice Chair Oliver Brettle commented: “White & Case delivered strong financial results in 2024, with global revenue surpassing US$3 billion for the first time, and the Firm’s Global Private Equity Industry Group was among our standout performers. Our ongoing strategy is to build globally to ensure we’re best placed to support clients on their key deals and in Italy, where we are a leading international firm for M&A, the addition of Giovanni clearly aligns with that strategy.”

The firm’s Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice has been expanding since early 2025 with new partners Sasha Belinkie, Richard Brand, Kiran Kadekar, Erica Hogan, Jaye Kasper joining in New York; Richard Browne in London; Aaron Kenavan; and Jamie Palmer in Sydney.
