Willkie Farr & Gallagher and its co-counsel have received a Litigator of the Week “Shout Out” from The AmLaw Litigation Daily for their work on an Anti-Terrorism Act lawsuit. The case represents U.S. military personnel and their families against Lafarge S.A., a French building materials company accused of supporting ISIS and the al-Nusrah Front in Syria.

On August 29, Senior Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York rejected Lafarge’s attempt to dismiss the case due to lack of personal jurisdiction. The judge also permitted conspiracy claims by the plaintiffs to move forward. The suit alleges that between 2012 and 2017, Lafarge worked with terrorist groups by providing millions of dollars so it could continue operating its cement plant in Northern Syria.

The Willkie legal team is led by partners Lee Wolosky and Andrew Lichtman, along with associate Kathryn Bolas. Attorneys from Kellogg Hansen are acting as co-counsel.
